I had the opportunity to work as a Narrative Designer at ASU's Luminosity Lab on the supply chain learning simulation StockUp: The Clinic. The project was developed by the Center for Applied Research in Supply chain and Innovation - Africa (CARISCA). This is a join project of Arizona State University in the United States and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana.
I was responsible for creating an original storyline set in Sub-Saharan Africa that dealt with the supply chain problems that small clinics may face in rural areas. I drafted several different versions of storylines based on my own research and interviews with healthcare professionals native to the area. The story lines were then pitched to native Ghanaians and the team and I settled on a storyline that would be the most relatable to our audience while also being conducive for learning.
I wrote the storyline using Twine, a branching story software, and Microsoft Excel. I also assisted the designers in moving the storyline over to Figma, where the story blockout was built. I also wrote the instructions for how to play the game.
Besides my work as a narrative designer, I also worked with the Lead Gameplay Designer, a professor at ASU, to turn Supply Chain Lessons into mobile games. We created multiple sketches and iterated on gameplay loop ideas together. We then worked with the Lead Developer to build these games out.
